We are delighted to be a partner organisation for this unique annual arts festival of creative responses to a heritage book, produced by ExploreTheArch theatre company in St Leonards-on-Sea.
This year the festival trail connects the town's creative responses to Gideon Mantell's 1825 scientific paper naming the Iguanodon Species.
We'll be opening our doors at the Benbow Arts Space on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th April when visitors can drop in and take part in a number of roar-some activities!
The Evolution of the Iguanodon – an animated film
Take part in a collaborative animated filmmaking project! The finished film will tell the story of the evolution of the Iguanodon, from the Big Bang, to the emergence of simple life forms to the Iguanodon itself. The film will be written in advance and visitors will be invited to select a moment from the timeline to animate. All the animations created by you will then be edited together into a final, complete film with film score and voice over!
Walk with your Iguanodon
Draw your own Iguanodon. Then bring your drawing to life at our filming station, where, using a combination of various film special effect techniques – from the very old (forced perspective and mattes) to the more modern (green screen) you will have an encounter with your iguanodon on film!
There will be a play area for under 5s upstairs, and we'll be screening a dinosaur related film in our mini-cinema.
This is a free family event. The film activities are best suited to children aged 5+
We will be serving a limited selection of soft drinks and snacks. Please see the A Town Explores A Book website for full details of all the activities between 3rd-21st April.
