The BYFC is your chance to join a group of young people aged 11-16 years on a journey into film.

This term, we'll step back into the golden age of television — and you'll create your own night of TV!

TV Time Machine

Hastings is considered the birthplace of television, and we’re going back to a time when you didn’t just choose something to watch. You sat down in front of the telly and let the channel take you on a journey. A time when just four TV channels carefully curated an entire evening of entertainment to keep audiences glued to the box.

We’ll explore the weird, wonderful, and cheesy world of 90s television — from sitcoms and sketch shows to game shows, commercials, trailers, and adverts.

And then you’ll make your own.

The workshop will culminate in a special TV Time Machine screening for friends and family, where the audience will be transported back to a fictional evening of television — produced by you, created by you and starring you!

The course will be run by our Film Programme Learning Leader, Will Davies. Will is an experienced film maker and educator, with a specialism in sound recording. He has filmed in over 25 countries and is co-director of local production company, Whalebone Films.
