The Barn Theatre and Museum welcomed Swallow's Wing Puppetry over the February half-term for their flagship show "Anansi and the Lost Sun".
A funny, irreverent and inspiring West African Tale, Anansi and the Lost Sun is told with puppetry, spoken word and traditional live West African music.
Using traditional West African stories about Anansi the Spider, Swallow's Wing Puppetry enchants, entertains, educates and builds cross-generational dialogue. The story is told using puppets made from everyday materials and beautiful traditional West African music.
The Anansi Stories are part of our multicultural heritage and they are from an African Heritage, yet have a universal appeal to all people in modern Britain. Predating slavery, the Anansi stories are humorous, lively, empowering and “community” led stories that travelled with enslaved African people to the Caribbean and beyond, including here in the UK.
Afterwards our audiences enjoyed a Creative Workshop in the Museum making the creatures featured in the story.
