We were THRILLED to be a partner organisation for A Town Explores A Book - a unique annual arts festival of creative responses to a heritage book, produced by ExploreTheArch theatre company in St Leonards-on-Sea.
This year the festival trail connected the town's creative responses to Gideon Mantell's 1825 scientific paper naming the Iguanodon Species as part of the 200th anniversary of the discovery of the Iguanodon footprint in Hastings.
The Evolution of the Iguanodon – an animated film
Visitors were invited to take part in a collaborative animated filmmaking project using claymation, drawing and cut-outs. We are so happy with the finished film, which tells the story of the evolution of the Iguanodon, from the Big Bang, to the emergence of simple life forms to the Iguanodon itself. Take a look below!
Walking with Dinosaurs
Visitors were also invited to drawn their own Iguanodon, then bring their drawing to life at our filming station, where, using using a combination of various film special effect techniques – from the very old (forced perspective and mattes) to the more modern (green screen) they had an encounter with their iguanodon on film!
