Over the May half term we opened the grounds of the Barn Theatre and Museum for our Summer Open Days with The Story Collector .
Out of the Bag Theatre (Rebecca Fifield and Marie-Louise Cousin) were our artists in residence. There were fragments of stories for children to discover and play with. Across our grounds and museum there were lots of areas to explore – children got dressed up in the Wardrobe in the Woods; families got creative making dragons in the Making Marquee; and dens were built in the Play Space.
Each day The Story Collector gathered ideas from the children for a story to be told at 2:00pm.
Over 400 people came to spend time in the peace and tranquillity of Rodgers Farm. Our Museum was open for the public to explore our private collection of antique toys, puppets and model theatre sets dating back to 18th century.
The School children who'd visited over the Spring were able to come back and see their clay frog creations in situ overlooking the pond.
Our pop-up cafe was run by 'Food Comes First' who served a delectable selection of sandwiches, wraps, pastries and cakes!
