We invite schools, colleges, and local groups to join us on an Experience Day to take part in free creative and educational activities. Our offer meets multiple aspects of the curriculum and we can tailor the visit for any age group from 10-19 years
The Benbow Arts Space is a creative learning hub dedicated to the art of film-making so the school and group visits will focus on this. Over an academic year our Experience Days will have different themes and content so groups can return more than once. We are happy to develop a day in collaboration with teachers / group leaders in order to meet your learning outcomes - please get in touch to discuss office@thebrightfoundation.org.uk
We firmly believe that cost should not be a barrier to enjoying the Arts. We have a ‘Transport Support Fund’ generously donated by the Spencer Wills Trust. This helps pay for transport to and from our activities for schools and families facing hardship, who would otherwise not be able to attend. To request support please contact us directly. (Please note that travel bursaries are limited and at the discretion of The Bright Foundation).
Taking inspiration from our early cinema exhibition, students will explore the evolution of the moving image. Explore early projections and create your own Magic Lantern slide; design artwork for a zoetrope to make your image move; and learn the art of stop-frame animation and set design to create your own short films. This is an activity which runs for the duration of a school day (approx. 9:30 – 3:00) and gives participants the opportunity to explore our exhibition, work collaboratively with film professionals, and develop new skills. We are happy to tailor the day to your priorities and curriculum needs. The day culminates in a screening of the animations in our cinema space.
Throughout the day, there is a strong emphasis on working positively with peers towards a common goal.
Suitable for Year 6 upwards
Experience Days are available to book on Wednesdays or Thursdays from November 2024
As a charity commited to creative education for children and young people, we are offering the visit free of charge for a group of up to 30 students. We just ask that you fund your transport to and from the venue. There is a cancellation fee of £100 should you cancel within two weeks notice.
The Benbow Arts Space is located in the heart of St Leonards-on-Sea at No 2 London Road. There is no parking on site.
We are committed to making the experience as accessible as possible – please talk to us about your access needs. There is level access across the site, a hearing loop in the theatre and we can offer a BSL Interpreter for your visit.
